The Mamdani Signal is a prototype for organizing public TikTok posts about NYC civic issues. It is not a government service, emergency service, or official reporting channel.

What We Collect

When you submit a clip, the app may process the TikTok URL and public metadata returned by TikTok oEmbed, such as title, author, thumbnail, and availability status. Report controls may collect the Signal being reported, a selected reason, and an optional note.

Location And Personal Information

The app is designed for public civic locations like streets, parks, stations, and intersections. Scanner logic quarantines obvious private contact information and redacts emails, phone numbers, and apartment or unit details from generated public fields.

Storage

The current prototype uses local fixtures and in-memory checks for verification, rate limits, and report handling. Durable database storage is planned but not implemented in this build.

Third Parties

TikTok links may be checked through TikTok oEmbed. Opening a TikTok source post sends you to TikTok and is governed by TikTok’s own policies.
